Job Description:

Databricks is a global leader in Data and AI infrastructure, trusted by Fortune 500 companies and innovative startups worldwide. The company is now expanding its engineering team in Bengaluru and is looking for a Backend Software Engineer (SDE 2) to work on large-scale distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, and cloud-native infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Build foundational infrastructure platforms that scale seamlessly across different geographic regions and cloud providers.
• Work on cloud-agnostic infrastructure abstractions that simplify operations for engineers and customers.
• Improve developer efficiency by designing and enhancing tools like programming frameworks, linters, IDE integrations, automated pipelines, and test frameworks.
• Focus on building reliable and performant backend systems using modern technologies such as Java, Scala, Go, and Python.
• Contribute across the entire lifecycle of projects, from initial design and development to implementation and long-term operations.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• A Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of production-level experience in one or more backend languages such as Python, Java, Scala, C++, or Go.
• Strong experience in building and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Prior exposure to SaaS platforms or service-oriented architectures.
• A solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and backend operations.
• The ability to collaborate effectively with senior engineers and contribute throughout the project lifecycle.
